There is no better way to get a taste for Imperial Russia than to wander the historic streets of St. Petersburg – each building is grander than the last. The city is a treasure trove of art and culture, one can spend days lost in the displays at the State Hermitage Museum or find themselves mesmerised by a ballet or opera. Saint Petersburg is a true must see for every traveler.
The Kempinski St. Petersburg stays true to the Kempinski chain with its feeling of elegant luxury. One reviewer aptly described the atmosphere as being akin to that of a private mansion, the beautiful lobby manages to give a homely ambiance despite its size.
Hands down the best location in St. Petersburg. The Kempinski is nearly within touching distance of the State Hermitage Museum and the Winter Palace.
The Kempinski’s spot right on the Moika canal inspires a nautical theme in the bedroom décor. The underlying tone is a regal blue giving a lovely plush feeling to all of the rooms. This is complemented by the dark woodwork of the study and seating areas.
The bathrooms are the only slight downfall. In comparison to the bedroom, our bathroom was small in size and lacked natural light.
No visit to the Kempinski St. Petersburg is complete without a meal at Bellevue Brassiere. The large glass windows offer stunning views of the city’s skyline. All the main attractions are visible in this panorama from St. Isaac’s to the Church of the Saviour on Blood.
Breakfast in the morning is also another winning feature of the Kempinski. In this reviewers mind, breakfast is a standout feature throughout the Kempinski chain and I have yet to be disappointed. The selection in St. Petersburg included everything from healthy detox juice shots to full English / Irish breakfasts, as well the more upmarket versions of Eggs Benedict.
Sadly we did not have time to see the pool or gym but a fully equipped fitness centre and spa are available to all guests.
The Kempinski St. Petersburg is the grande dame of the city, a beautiful hotel in an ideal location, I would definitely recommend it. The only negative as mentioned above was the small bathroom size, but every other part of our stay was wonderful.
