I am a Visual Artist, designer of a brand under my own name in 2012, where I combine topics that inspire me and that inside my company are the creation lines of drawings and objects and that go from the decorative art to the conceptual art. My artwork is characterized by its versatility. It is not confined to a single public even if it has its topics well defined: on the one hand still lifes composed by contemporary objects, fashion and luxury pointed towards the female imaginary and on the other hand consumer economics; all through the traditional drawing missed, in some way, by the entry of digital tools into the contemporary art.
The way I choose to capture my points of view is the drawing with colored pencils on different kind of papers. I chose colored pencils because after the pencil, colored pencils are one of the most common ways of drawing, if we take the simplest definition of drawing. Consequently, life has allowed me to participate in three exhibitions in one of the most important exhibition spaces in my city, the gallery of the Cámara de Comercio of Bogotá, with this piece:
I find beauty in the drawing, as well as it can be found in a good watch, a piece of jewelry or a car. Drawing may have a simpler form, but it is not less elaborated. From here there also start up my interest in decorative objects, decor and dolls.
I think on the concept of an autonomous artist who is not as involved as part of the galleries (without discarding appearances in them) but who besides his artwork, looks for creating a brand that makes him, with all the sensitivity required for the job, also an entrepreneur, beyond the search of recognition and fame.
Talking about the general structure of my brand, is to talk about versatility within a business model that until now have remained outside the Tower of Babel that is the art world and the contemporary art one specifically. Many could be surprised when I say “business” as they believe that the task of creating should be independent to that of being an entrepreneur, but I think it is a mistake, considering that all online utilities and social media take the artist to become also a self-sufficient being, a businessman, an executive.
As for my experience in the market, I must say that I am not an expert in the luxury market neither in the art one. However, the observation of other experiences and results in the business and my career as an internationalist, have allowed me to investigate and provide also, besides my general collections, items for a very specific audience, confirming emphatically, that artwork and some decorative objects remain a privilege, a luxury. For people who can afford artwork it is a privilege to own pieces so beautiful made. And for the artists, it is also a privilege to have a public that in addition to admire his creations can also buy them.
In this moment I offer a service consisting in original, unique, and numbered pieces of my artwork as souvenirs for business owners who have VIP events. These souvenirs are available as they belong to the investigated subjects of my brand: objects, fashion and luxury. It just takes a minimum request of four months and international shipping (depending on the number of pieces).
All information, portfolios and contact information can be found on my blog: en.daliasuarez.com. There are no intermediaries between my work and myself. For me it is very important that my clients know the artist. I also invite you to subscribe to my newsletter where you will receive exclusive information not published on the blog.
