What is a luxury product? I remember somewhere reading the description ‘ A product created by craftsmen and appreciated by connoisseurs’. Never has this been a more apt description than is the case of single malt Scotch whisky. One of History’s greatest survivors, Scotch has seen off wars and revolutions, depressions and recessions and even survived Prohibition to maintain its position as the number one spirit enjoyed worldwide today.
Since its humble beginnings in the late 1400s where it’s believed to have been taken for its medicinal qualities, to its more prosperous fine drinking spirit role today the process really hasn’t changed all that much. The finest barley, the choicest water from the nearest river and yeast. The skills required for the distillation process and the fine men and women that carry the process out are often the same family lines for generations. Shared knowledge and passed on skills are the roots of the quest for perfection that exists on a daily basis in all of Scotland’s historic distilleries. The passion and meticulous attention to detail, I have personally witnessed in the distilleries I have been privileged enough to visit is remarkable.
Here at Malts Of Scotland UK as independent bottlers we are privileged to offer over 50 distilleries products currently and that number is rising weekly. We believe in keeping the whisky just at the distillery intended which is why we only supply cask strength, non-chill filtered single malt Scotch. A small team here are responsible for sourcing the rarest and most uniquely aged casks in the market today. All individually sampled before purchasing, the casks are then hand bottled, labelled and packaged before we offer then back to the open market.
The attention to detail and personal nature of the business means we are able to hand write all our tasting notes in house. We also occasionally offer specialist bloggers and whisky tasting experts the chance to write for us. This allows our potential customers an opportunity to really get a feel for the product before buying. Our premium ranges come with hand crafted 100 year old wooden presentation cases and certificates of authenticity for that extra ‘Luxury’ touch.
The Products all appear under the ‘Malts of Scotland’ or ‘Highland Laird’ branding and are available from us direct or at all good independent whisky retailers. Contact us for your nearest stockist or to see local tasting nights.
