One of the happiest moments in anybody’s life is the day they bring a new baby in to the world – the elation of life creation can never be surpassed.
But for those desperate to buy a gift to celebrate the occasion, the euphoric high of such great news is often quickly dampened by the anxiety of choosing the right present.
London based mother of two and ex City lawyer, Alexis Goldfinch, recognised that this was often an issue for cash rich, time poor professionals who wanted to give something useful to celebrate the new arrival, but they had no idea what that might be.
So she launched The Essential Bag Company, a new concept where the luxury variants of essential items are presented in a stylish changing bag, regarded as a must have for any new parent.
The likes of Petit Bateau and Rachel Riley are the default for baby clothing, Aspinal of London for leather goods, Charbonnel et Walker for chocolate and Crabtree & Evelyn for skincare products.
But Alexis then decided to take this idea even further by offering the opportunity to buy gift bags for other family members. There are New Father Bags where a survival guide and a leather travel frame can be found housed in a Storsak or Skip Hop bag.
There are bags for big brother or big sister where they receive a rucksack filled with the likes of Ladybird books and Playmobil toys to keep them entertained while mum and dad deal with the new arrival.
And of course there is the option to create your own bag of goodies. However, the whole point of the service is to make it easy and painless to buy the top of the range versions of the essential products, so why bother!
The prepackaged bags range in price from £115 to £240, a small price to pay for the luxury of not worrying about what luxury presents are right for the newly expanded family.
